Partouze de ratons / Racoon Party

Une petite famille de cinq ratons laveurs est venue faire le party sur mon balcon. Le pire s’est déroulé sur le balcon du deuxième étage (pas d’images) où ils ont ouvert le bac de graines à oiseaux, s’empiffrant en les répandant partout. Ils ont aussi uriné et déféqué à plusieurs endroits. ❖ A small family of five raccoons came to party on my balcony. The worst happened on the second floor balcony (no pictures) where they opened the bird seed bin, gorging themselves and spreading it everywhere. They also urinated and defecated in several places.

Les acrobates du ciel

Le 27 octobre dernier, dans le Parc Frédéric-Back, nous avons pu assister à la fin du spectacle “Les acrobates du ciel”, une démonstration d’oiseaux de proie donnée par Faucon-Éduc. Nous avons ainsi pu observer une Chouette Effraie (Tyto alba / Barn owl) et un Grand-Duc d’Amérique (Bubo virginianus / Great horned owl).

La super lune (pleine lune durant une “périgée–syzygie”) d’octobre, aussi appelée “Lune du chasseur” • The October Supermoon (full moon during a “perigee–syzygy”), is also called the “Hunter’s Moon”.

The snowball cometh

I kept hearing that the comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas (C/2023 A3) was visible in our night sky, but I was rather sceptical considering the amount of light pollution in my neighbourhood. However, I didn’t want to take any chances, so last week, on Thursday night, about an hour after sunset (19:56), my wife and I went to the park and turn our gazes toward the west… and saw absolutely nothing (besides a few faint stars)! Remembering that the pictures I took of the aurora borealis with my iPhone had shown much more details than our eyes could see, I took a few pictures of the western landscape, just in case. Amazingly, we can distinguish on the pictures the faint trace of the comet.
